Comics & Illustrations

I believe in the importance of the arts and enjoy drawing and illustrating in my free time. I have also taught primary and secondary school level art part-time for several years. Here are some of my personal illustration projects.

A girl and a cat look up at the gates of a massive walled city with a city of skyscrapers behind. There is a moon carved on the stone gate.

[In Progress] Fida the Cyborg Girl

A comic about a deaf and blind girl who ventures out of her isolated, uncharted village to seek a cure for her disability in a futuristic city. Fida and her newfound friends find the cure she needs -- a cybernetic implant -- but things go awry as Fida starts acting strangely.

A girl in red dress stands out at sea, looking at the pink clouds on the horizon as the water sprays the rocks.

Seascape

A series of commissioned work for musician The Missing Puzzle. Listen to her works here: The Missing Puzzle Spotify

Silhouette of jellyfish and sea creatures against a backdrop of sun rays entering a cave.

The Waiting

A series of illustrations based on a poem I wrote during SingPoWriMo, an initiative by an online group of Singaporean writers who write a poem daily in the month of April.

A girl hiding under her blanket as monsters that resemble household items surround her.

[In Progress] Where’s Daddy

A picture book collaboration with writer Eileen Tay. Where’s Daddy is about a little girl who, upon discovering monsters in her room, decides to look for her father.

Robot Illustrations

I enjoy the juxtaposition of the robotic hardware with what we often attempt to imbue into our engineering and digital creations -- an imitation of the human spirit. A future with humanoid / human-like robots in our daily lives isn’t too far off, and it reminds me that we have a responsibility to design ethical products with humankind in mind.

A person in a cap rides a four-legged animal which resembles an ox but has a robotic head.
A one-eyed robot looks out of a train window pensively.
A robot sitting alone on a rock projects a beam of light out from its head, looking at something we can't see.
